Award in Combinatorial Library Sciences |
NEWS FLASH (April 29, 1999)
Dr. Ronald Frank of the AG Molekulare Erkennung in Braunschweig, Germany, has been chosen as the third winner of the Advanced ChemTech Award in Combinatorial Library Sciences
The co-Chairs of the 16th American Peptide Symposium are pleased to announce that the Third Advanced ChemTech Award in Combinatorial Library Sciences will be presented at our venue. The purpose of the award is to recognize significant milestone achievements in the rapidly advancing field of combinatorial science. This award was inaugurated in 1995 at the Western Biotech Conference (San Diego, CA) and the initial honoree was Dr. Mario Geysen of Glaxo-Wellcome. In 1997, Dr. Richard Houghten of the Torrey Pines Institute for Molecular Studies was named as the second award winner at the 5th International Symposium on Solid Phase Synthesis and Combinatorial Libraries (London, UK). Any researcher who has made fundamental contributions to the advancement of the field of combinatorial library science is eligible. Recognition could be for a single significant achievement or for a long-term body of work. This includes, but is not limited to, the following areas of investigation: combinatorial chemistry, solid-phase synthesis techniques, parallel synthesis, automation, informatics, high-throughput screening, and assay development. In rare cases where a fundamental contribution is determined to be worthy of the honor, but for which a specific individual attribution cannot be adequately determined or is in dispute, a joint award can be considered. All scientists, including those employed by Advanced ChemTech, its subsidiaries and allied companies, are eligible for this award. Previous awardees are eligible, but the contributions honored must be significantly different from those originally cited for an initial award. The award will be granted without regard to age or nationality.
All members of the American Peptide Society, and other interested scientists, are invited to submit nominations for the Award to be presented at the 16th American Peptide Symposium. The nomination documents should contain, at the minimum:
