Instructions for Ordering Symposium Goodies, etc. |
During the week of the 16th American Peptide Symposium, Natasha Frost snapped pictures corresponding to 55 rolls of film. The corresponding jpeg images can be seen by clicking here. Photos are in more or less chronological order. You may also enjoy looking at the captions, which we are filling in during our "spare" time, and for which we will gratefully accept help in identifying people and providing humorous descriptions. We have just (mid-October 1999) installed a search engine to help you find pictures based on the content of the captions; click here to try the search. There are some nuances to the search, as explained on the search page; let us know what you think.
If you have the computer software/hardware wherewithal to view and printout the Symposium photographs, of course you won't be needing us. Although truth be told, the quality of prints made from film is higher than prints from the web.
If you want to purchase photographic prints, the simplest is to go to our on-line order form after having read the remainder of the instructions on this page. Please send a printout of your order form and/or a fresh letter, together with a check or money order (US dollars, please, payable to the American Peptide Society) to:
As an example, you might fill in or write: disk 3, photo 07_04, quantity 3 prints, $9.00. To orient you, the aforementioned photo can be found at http://www1.chem.umn.edu/16aps/photos/disk3/07_04.html, and shows (left to right) Balazs Hargittai, Ioana Annis, and Edgar Arriaga in 3 strikingly different poses/facial expressions. Note how easy it is to determine the identifying number, either from "location" on your browser or from the number above the picture (you will know the disk from having accessed the picture from the index). Then click "previous" or "next" to see all the other photos on that disk, and "index" to get to other disks and other photos. After the last photo on a particular disk, a clicks gets you to the start of the next disk; conversely, a click from the first photo on a particular disk gets you to the first photo on the previous disk.
The above address should also be used if you want to order the peptide opera on video, which costs $25.00 per tape. Please send an e-mail at your early convenience to barany@tc.umn.edu to pre-order the opera, and specify what format your VCR uses (this information will help us determine how many tapes to order, and of course, there are volume discounts that we wish to take advantage of). The opera video will be available in VHS (NTSC - USA, Japan, elsewhere); VHS (PAL - much of Western Europe, including West Germany, Great Britain, Switzerland, etc.); VHS (SECAM - France, much of Eastern Europe, former Soviet Union, and Middle East); and Beta. Again, there are substantial volume discounts, so you can help us tremendously by getting in your order soon.
If you have questions about any of the above, you can contact George Barany at barany@tc.umn.edu or Anne Mockovak at anne@itdean.umn.edu.
