Travel Grant Supplements

The Travel Grant Committee chaired by Professor Arno F. Spatola has completed its work. Over $40,000 in awards to over 80 deserving recipients have been approved. The official notification will occur in mid-April; however, if you wish to know the outcome ahead of that for purposes of making your travel plans, please send us an e-mail.

A limited number of travel grant supplements are available from the American Peptide Society for attendance at the 16^th American Peptide Symposium. Special consideration will be given to young investigators preparing for a career in peptide research. Because of limited resources, preference will given to applicants submitting and presenting papers at the Symposium. All applicants must be members of the American Peptide Society prior to January 31, 1999.

Individual supplements will vary depending on airfare or automobile mileage. It is hoped that a considerable part of travel expenses can be covered. Full coverage of a round-trip ticket cannot be guaranteed, especially for overseas applicants.

The deadline for receipt of the application is January 31, 1999. Those wishing to apply for a travel grant should gather eight copies of the following:

• a completed application
• a letter of recommendation from their advisor
• abstract
• brief curriculum vitae
• one-page essay describing their research focus and stating their reasons for wishing to attend this Symposium
• estimated travel expenses

Travel Grant Supplement applications should be sent in a separate envelope from the abstract submission, but observing the same deadline as for the abstract. Travel grant checks will be available for pick-up mid-week during the Symposium.
