Sonnet
II
I've been following you for countless days
The broken caboose--the end of the train
The one who stands all alone in the rain
And peers for a glimpse of you in the haze
Which forms the wall between us. You and I
Aren't much alike my virgin huntress love
You roam the empty starlit void above,
And I am trapped beneath the hollow sky.
And yet, perhaps the moon someday will reach
Far down to touch the earth with her fair hand
And linger over both the stone and sea
An in so doing she will try to teach
Me even more about the taste of sand--
My dear, you're my favorite misery.
