Professor Pierre is developing real-world diagnostic tool

The Clinical and Translational Science Institute is supporting Professor Valerie Pierre in the development of a cheap, easy-to-use diagnostic tool that could provide a faster way to diagnose bacterial infections. She is working to create a dipstick-like tool that could test for an infection and instantly deliver results, and indicate which treatment would be most effective, a crucial component since a growing number of infections are resistant to at least one antibiotic.
