Chemists conduct chemical biology short course

Professor Will Pomerantz, graduate students Andrew Urick and Gabriella Perell, and Heisig/Gleysteen Summer Research Fellow Drew Maurine hosted a chemical biology short course in collaboration with the Osher Life Long Learning Institute, Wednesday, June 19. With more than 20 participants, topics included historical perspectives and current trends in chemical biology, short videos, and an overview of research in the Pomerantz lab. At the end of the course participants, took part in a hands-on demonstration where they extracted and isolated their own DNA. The short course finished with a tour of the research lab space in Smith Hall and Kolthoff Hall.
