* Winner of two bottles of champagne presented at the Symposium banquet. When this entry was originally submitted, GB made a special trip back to his office, looked up the rather thick Webster's Dictionary, and could not find "boney". Nor is that word recognized by the latest Microsoft Word spellcheck (try it yourself, and note all the alternatives that the program suggests). Nonetheless, in the spirit of fair play, GB made a further expedition to Barnes & Nobles, and finally located a dictionary that did have this alternative spelling of "bony". That dictionary was sufficiently thorough to include "dipeptide" as another entry, and was presented as an additional prize to the Chmielewski/Lipton team. The Meldal/St. Hilaire solution, also relying on "boney", was developed independently and submitted the day after the Symposium banquet.
