Profs. Blank and Siepmann recognized with outstanding teaching awards
Please join me in congratulating two of our faculty who have been chosen to receive prestigious awards for their contributions to education:
DAVID BLANK has been chosen to receive the 2010 Horace T. Morse-University Alumni Award for Outstanding Contributions to Undergraduate Education. This honor is awarded to exceptional candidates nominated by colleges in their quest to identify excellence in undergraduate education. In addition to honoring individual faculty members, the award contributes to the improvement of undergraduate education at the University by publicizing their work to serve as a resource for the whole faculty. David is one of 6 faculty from across the entire University chosen to receive this award this year.
ILJA SIEPMANN has
been chosen to receive the Award for Outstanding Contributions to Postbaccalaureate,
Graduate, and Professional Education. Recipients are chosen for excellence in
instruction; involvement in student's research, scholarship, and professional
development; development of instructional programs; and advising and mentoring
of students. Ilja is one of 8 faculty from across the entire University chosen
to receive this award this year.
Both David and Ilja will receive an engraved sculpture, lapel pin, certificate, an annual salary augmentation, and funds for professional use. The awards also signal their induction into the Academy of Distinguished Teachers, bringing the complement of current members from the Department of Chemistry to 11!
Congratulations David and Ilja!!
