Abstract Submission Guidelines

Note that the original January 31, 1999 deadline for receipt of abstracts has been extended by one month; the new deadline is February 28, 1999. IMPORTANT ADDENDUM: Even though the Program Committee has now met and made its recommendations, we are still prepared to accept additional abstracts for poster presentation and inclusion in the "Program and Abstracts" book through April 30, 1999. We encourage you to get these to us at your earliest convenience. POLICY REGARDING VERY LATE ABSTRACTS: Abstracts received from May 1, 1999 through June 15, 1999 will probably be accepted for poster presentation. All of these abstracts will be assigned numbers at the end of the sequence of other posters on the same general topic, and a handout showing the abstracts will be prepared and distributed at the same time as participants pick up their Symposium materials.

We have developed a variety of methods for abstract submission. Please read the general information for abstract preparation and submission first, then look at the sample abstract, and finally, please return to this page and choose a link depending on what method you would like to use to submit your abstract:

  1. Regular Postal mail: You will follow the general instructions to create a single sheet that includes your abstract and all of the additional information that you must provide us with, and then send the original and five copies to the indicated address.
  2. An attachment via E-mail: You will send your abstract as an attachment, and also provide the further information that we need in the body of the e-mail; please note we are only able to handle documents prepared in Microsoft Word or in WordPerfect.
  3. Web based submission form: This method will collect the needed information as well as create your abstract following the exact instructions, but it will not accept graphics, complicated equations (from equation editors) or tables. Effective February 8, 1999, we are no longer accepting abstracts through this route.
