More detailed information about attractions in this area are readily accessed elsewhere in this web site, on the Twin Cities, General Information, and Vacation Ideas pages. Information will also be available during the Symposium at a booth in the Minneapolis Convention Center lobby.

Two planned activities are available during the Symposium break on Tuesday afternoon and evening, June 29. Each can accommodate only a limited number of participants. Please make your reservations early to avoid disappointment. Registration will be on a first received basis. Include your registration for these events on the Symposium registration form.

Stillwater/St. Croix River Excursion - This trip takes you to the Minnesota-Wisconsin border, 26 miles due east from downtown Minneapolis. Upon arrival at Stillwater, the guide will provide a riding tour of this enchanting old rivertown and will take you behind the scenes of local history. Following the tour, time will be provided to stroll along the river or enjoy the variety and quality shopping throughout the town. Stillwater's Main Street has modern retail stores, boutiques, specialty shops, and art galleries offering abundance to the discriminating shopper. For the antique aficionado, a score of shops from one end of the town to the other provides a potpourri of collectibles and treasures.

A highlight of this excursion will be a riverboat cruise on the St. Croix River, including buffet dinner, cash bar, and Dixieland Band. Enjoy the beautiful river bluffs from an enclosed cabin or open air decks.

Departure is from the Minneapolis Hilton Hotel at 2:00 p.m. via deluxe motorcoach. A box lunch will be provided en route to Stillwater. The dinner cruise is scheduled for 6:30 p.m., with return to the hotel anticipated at 10:00 p.m. Some walking is required on this tour and participants are advised to wear comfortable clothing and shoes. The $69 per person fee includes transportation, meals, taxes, and gratuities.

First American Peptide Symposium Golf Tournament - Hosted by Mallinckrodt Inc., the tournament will be held at The Links at Northfork, 25 miles north of downtown Minneapolis. This Scottish-style links par 72 18-hole course has bentgrass fairways, tees, and greens. There are ponds, creeks, woods, multiple mounds, depressions, waste bunkers and deep heather to provide a formidable challenge. The Links was nominated for "Best New Public Course" by Golf Digest Magazine in 1993. The format will be a scramble with a shot gun start. Dinner and awards in the club facilities will follow the tournament.

This event begins with a motorcoach trip that departs from the Minneapolis Hilton Hotel at 2:00 p.m. A box lunch will be provided on the motorcoach so the tournament can begin at 3:00 p.m. The late sunset (9:04 p.m.) will enable a complete round to be played.
