This "mid-week level" puzzle was released to coincide with an important annual deadline, and celebrates a centennial of note. Given the puzzle's unusually high theme density, we hope that you will forgive several subpar words and deviations from the usual standards of symmetry. If it's any consolation, this was a lot worse until Marcia Brott, Noam Elkies, Michael Hanko, and Martin Herbach weighed in with their suggestions that improved the puzzle.
