The release of this "mid-week level" puzzle was timed to coincide with the 2012 Boulder Peptide Symposium, at which 55-Across (photo on the right) received a very justified honor. Updated on Christmas eve, 2014: The puzzle was reposted to help its honoree celebrate a birthday!
