Research Assistant Melissa Maurer-Jones has received a Summer American Chemical Society-Division of Analytical Chemistry Graduate Fellowship award sponsored by the Society of Analytical Chemists of Pittsburgh. Maurer-Jones earned this national honor at the Pittcon Conference & Expo where she delivered an oral presentation, Fundamental Study of Cellular Response after Exposure to TiO2 Nanoparticles.
Maurer-Jones is a fourth-year graduate student and research assistant in the lab of Associate Professor Christy Haynes. She is a recipient of a National Science Foundation Graduate Fellowship. In the Haynes lab, she has been exploring the correlation between reactive oxygen species and chemical messenger secretion after cell exposure to nanoscale materials.
