Young chosen as crystallography congress delegate

Victor Young Jr., X-ray facility director, has been named as one of the National Academy of Sciences delegates to the International Union of Crystallography (IUCr) 22nd Congress and General Assembly, which will be conducted this August in Madrid. Young will represent the United States at the General Assembly and report back on the outcomes of the meetings. Young is one of 50 delegates charged with the responsibility of reviewing the work of the IUCr, electing members of the IUCr Executive Committee and Commissions, and deciding on the venue for the 2017 Congress.

Crystallography plays a key role for the development of many important scientific fields, ranging from chemistry to mineralogy, physics, material sciences, nanotechnology, biochemistry, biology, and biomedicine.
