We're going to the Fair, Aug. 27 to Sept. 7

From our green chemistry and engineering exhibit to hands-on experiments and demonstrations, the Department of Chemistry will have a strong presence at the Minnesota State Fair.

Check out the Green Chemistry and Engineering exhibit in the Eco Experience Building, located on Randall Avenue and Cosgrove Street. From the development of safer chemical products and processes to the creation of chemicals and materials from renewable resources, energy efficiency initiatives, and efforts to minimize waste and prevent pollution, a new exhibit at the Minnesota State Fair will focus on green chemistry and engineering. The multi-faceted exhibit, featuring the University of Minnesota’s departments of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering & Materials Science, and the Center for Sustainable Polymers, includes informative displays highlighting the latest research and teaching, and hands-on activities for young people.

Our Chemistry Outreach Program, directed by Professor Kenneth Leopold and coordinated by Dave Hildebrandt, will have hands-on experiments and demonstrations from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 5, in the University of Minnesota building located on Dan Patch Avenue. A number of our students will be there throughout the day.
