New UMN student/postdoc chapter of ACS POLY and PMSE

A team of graduate students and a faculty adviser in the Department of Chemistry and Department of Chemical Engineering and Materials Science (CEMS) have founded a new student and post-doctorate organization affiliated with the American Chemical Society (ACS) Division of Polymer Chemistry (POLY) and ACS Division of Polymeric Materials: Science and Engineering (PMSE). The new organization is called the UMN POLY/PMSE Student Chapter.

This new professional group has been created to facilitate seminars related to the field of polymers, organize social and outreach events for the community, and host career development and networking opportunities with industry for its members. The activities, events, and programs will highlight the direct effects of polymer materials on every day lives, and will emphasize the importance of polymer technology in addressing future societal challenges.

Undergraduate and graduate students, post-doctorates, and faculty are all welcome to join the UMN POLY/PMSE chapter. Information about events and membership are detailed on the website at http://www.chem.umn.edu/grad/polypmse/, or can be obtained by sending an email to polypmse@umn.edu.

The UMN POLY/PMSE Student Chapter leadership team includes, from left, Cecilia Hall (president, chemistry), Leon Lillie (secretary, chemistry), Annabelle Lee (treasurer, chemistry), Theresa Reineke (faculty adviser, chemistry), Peter Schmidt (public relations, CEMS), and Jeff Ting (vice president, CEMS).
