Recent research from the research group of Professor
Laura Hawk, a post-doctoral associate working with Professor Will Pomerantz, has received an American Chemical Society (ACS) Women Chemists Committee (WCC) and Eli Lilly Travel Award. Awards are made on the basis of scientific merit and financial need.
Hawk will use the award to attend the fall ACS National Meeting in Philadelphia this August, where she will present her researched on using 19F NMR to study epigenetic regulatory proteins. She earned her doctorate at the University of Chicago and was an undergraduate at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
In addition to the financial support, the award provides networking opportunities, including a WCC-hosted poster session and reception; a recognition luncheon with ACS governance and WCC members; and a private dinner with WCC members, which is sponsored by the ACS Executive Director.
