Summer Research Program

June 6 through August 12, 2016
Application Deadline: March 15, 2016

The Heisig/Gleysteen Chemistry Summer Research Program is designed to encourage students in chemistry to learn more about research in chemistry and provide them with the opportunity to work in a lab under the direction of a faculty member. This program will run in conjunction with the LANDO program which brings in students selected from a national competition.

Eligibility: Applications are now being accepted from those presently enrolled as chemistry majors at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities Campus. You must have at least one year left in school. Applications must include two letters of support and recommendation, including one (must be) from your research advisor.

Each Chemistry Summer Research Fellow will receive a stipend of $4,500 for a 10-week period. Appointments will begin on June 6, 2016 and run for 10-weeks through, August 12, 2016. This is considered a full-time position.

In addition to research, Chemistry Summer Research Fellows will participate in a formal research symposium on their work at the end of the summer. Funds are available for travel to a national meeting (such as the spring national meeting of the American Chemical Society) to present the results of your summer's research during the following year.
