This "mid-week level" puzzle was a prize for the Enigma Variations crossword metapuzzle contest. Six answer words for which the clues have been marked by an asterisk (*) have special meaning for the contest winner and his "inner circle." Other solvers will have to depend on fair crossing words to discern those answers. After completing the puzzle (spoiler), check out One Cool Thing (#187) and and also listen to this shoutout [near the end of the podcast, about 2 min starting at 1:10:30]
