This page [readily accessed at http://tinyurl.com/gbpuzzle] contains links to published [New York Times, Chronicle of Higher Education, Games, Minnesota magazine, Natural Selections, etc.] or "self-published" crossword puzzles by George Barany, constructed for the most part in collaboration with any number of brilliant individuals [learn more about them by clicking either on the link just given to the left, or on their names in the index that follows]. Puzzles are 15x15 unless indicated otherwise [in which case our convention is number of rows x number of columns], and are listed in reverse chronological order (most recent first). Some of these puzzles are for general audiences, while others (particularly the "tributes") are for niche audiences [in some cases, we provide alternative versions that do not require specialized knowledge]. Moreover, some puzzles reflect the author's personal interests and biases [e.g., sports, classical music, science and math, and the time-sensitive current events and political themed crosswords addressed by the suite of puzzles constructed for the most part with Arthur Rothstein, and later with the expanded team.] Refer to the column entitled "Comments" for more specific information (including our best "guestimate" as to the level of difficulty), and note that some of the puzzle pages provide graphics that might give you a better idea as to whether or not you want to tackle them, as well as links for solving them on-line. If you want to receive puzzles from this team and/or look at them at various stages (including "beta testing") of the process, please contact Professor Barany [center of photo, flanked by Jenna Orkin, Mark Wieder, Michael Hanko, and Noam Elkies] via his e-mail: barany@umn.edu.

I would like to thank Eric Schulz, Nate Davidson, and Christie Martin for their help in setting up and maintaining these pages [puzzles hosted at other sites are indicated by an asterisk (*)], Arthur Rothstein for showing the way at his mojo site, and Jim Horne and Jeff Chen for the fabulous xwordinfo.com site that we are using to provide on-line solving. Of course, my biggest debt goes to all of my friends with whom I have had the pleasure of working on these puzzles. They have taught me much and have accompanied me on innumerable fascinating and enriching side trips into the English language and all sorts of esoterica about the human condition. Please enjoy the fruits of our efforts!

Added notes: We added a Facebook page (October 2012) that can be accessed by clicking here; please "like," if you are so inclined. It is a pleasure for us to share with our regular solvers the Noam Elkies' Satellite Puzzle Page [added January 2013; readily accessed at http://tinyurl.com/NDEsatpuz] that contains a number of gems that are sure to challenge and delight. Recently, we were proud to be included (as of May 2013) on the blog roll of the web site of crossword champion Dan Feyer, and to have our puzzles featured as "finals week study break" exhibits in several libraries (Walter, Wilson, and Music) on the University of Minnesota campus. Moreover, our crossword construction consortium was featured in this on-line article [posted May 22 to go with May 27, 2013 issue; use this short URL: http://cenm.ag/puzzle] in Chemical & Engineering News, the official magazine of the American Chemical Society. Click here for a montage of crossword words observed on a June 2013 trip to Hawaii, here for a September 2013 essay of sorts about how our team constructs and optimizes puzzles, here for a November 2013 interview with Will Shortz (and associated information), and here for a December 2013 article about our endeavors for the Minneapolis Star Tribune.
